There are several conditions that can bring about both pelvic pain and back pain. However, prostatitis is a particular condition that exclusively causes pelvic pain in men. Prostatitis is a condition that is typified by the swelling of the prostate gland. It is frequently caused by bacteria although how it results in pelvic pain in men is unknown. Here is some important information about this condition that causes pelvic pain in men.

A possible condition that brings about both pelvic pain and back pain is pelvic joint instability. The pain could be focused on the testes, penis, anal area, or lower back. The pain could be recurring or it could be constant. Pelvic pain in men can become more severe when the patient is urinating or ejaculating.

This condition severely limits the pregnant woman’s mobility as it is hard to walk in this condition. The second type is chronic bacterial prostatitis which is a comparatively rare condition that often presents as an intermittent urinary infection. The third type is called chronic prostatitis or chronic pelvic pain syndrome which is the most prevalent among prostatitis diagnoses. Finally, there is the asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis the only symptom of which is pus in the semen.

Treating pelvic pain in men brought about by prostatitis can be difficult. If the case is simply caused by an infection, then antibiotics are used. However, most of its diagnoses have unknown causes and that is why doctors utilize a combination of treatment methods. First of all, the doctor prescribes pain medications like NSAIDs, to help the patient manage the pain.

Anti-anxiety meds are also employed because of the chronic nature of this condition. Botulinum toxin A injections, muscle relaxants to the pelvic floor, and Alpha-adrenergic blockers are also used as well. Furthermore, there are also alternative procedures in treating pelvic pain in men like sacral nerve stimulation, biofeedback, prostatic massage, nutritional supplements, surgical procedure, and acupuncture.
