• 225 gms cabbage,
  • 1/4 cup bengal gram, split,(chana dal)
  • 3-4 green chilies,
  • coriander leaves,
  • salt and sugar,
  • asafoetida,
  • turmeric powder,
  • 2 teaspoon mustard seeds,
  • 4 teaspoon oil


Remove outermost leaves of cabbage and chop it finely. Soak chana dal in the water for half an hour. Chop green chilies and coriander leaves. In a pan, heat oil & add mustard seeds. When start spluttering, add asafoetida and turmeric powder. Add soaked dal to it. Fry for sometime. Now add chopped cabbage and mix well. Cover. Remove the lid and stir after 10-15 minutes. Once the cabbage is cooked, add salt. Mix and cook for a min. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with Chapati.
