Using ideas from the latest Interior Design trends is a great way to keep your home looking fresh and new. And every year there are lots of new trends to check out. But you don?t need to remake your entire house. These days, one of the biggest trends seems to be ?slow and easy? wins the race.
?Interior Design Trend #1
Make simple changes that have big impact. This means look for ways to highlight a feature of your house without breaking the bank or your back. Try dressing up the front porch when the seasons change. Paint a wall in your entrance a bold dramatic colour. Put graphic printed wallpaper on a feature wall. Add moulding details to your ceiling. Or, take all the details out of the room, move the furniture and reposition what you have to get a fresh perspective.
?Interior Design Trend #2
Add some pattern to your room. Don?t be afraid to mix and match patterns. If you keep the colours and themes consistent you can usually manage to get a good balance and an extra pop of design chic in your space. Begin with a neutral palette. Pick one or two patterns that work well together, and use the main colour in these as an accent throughout the rest of the room. If you are concerned about overwhelming the room with pattern, start with a simple stripe and add one pattern that you love. Make sure there is something that binds the patterns?..like a common colour.
?Interior Design Trend #3
Mixing styles in one colour. Tired of your regular accents? Pick up inexpensive pieces in all shapes, sizes and textures in the same colour??or spray paint them an accent colour to work with your room. Use different sizes and shapes to keep the items interesting and connected. Then group them together on the mantle, bookcases or side tables.
?Interior Design Trend #4
Black is bigger and more prominent. We typically paint our trim white??but try black on for size. Graphic styling is still hot and bold, but it has moved from white to black. Paint a black wall in the bedroom and hang unusual doorknobs on the wall (mounted on a bold coloured board) for a new coat hook space. Paint the trim in your kitchen black?including the windows, and forego the blinds. Paint the small inexpensive side tables in a glossy black to give them a more sleek appearance.
?Interior Design Trend #5
Cover up the window tops. Want a quick way to give a hit of casual elegance to your room? Add a coordinating or contrasting valance to the window. If you have patterned drapes, have a valance made in a solid colour that coordinates with the drapes and hide the rods. Keep it sleek and tailored for a sophisticated look. Or loose and flowing for a more whimsical style.
Try to take a different look at your space and punch it up with a bit of the trendy styles that are happening all around.
