In the majority of magazines and in the world of celebrity, we are bombarded by pictures of skinny models and actors/actresses. Both men and women alike come under immense pressure to be thin rather than be happy in the skin God gave us. That is why the rate of anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders are on the rise.
However, do we really have to succumb to this type of peer and media pressure? No, we certainly do not have to bow to being thin. Think of what the people who are thin have to go through everyday… They cannot eat the foods they want to and they have to exercise like mad to keep their bodies so thin, slender and toned. If you are plus sized, be happy in the life you have and the happiness around you. So, instead of wanting to be like the thin ones, feel sorry for them instead. There is no need to live one’s life under other people’s critical judgment.
While the average woman in America gets larger, the models are definitely getting skinnier. The media is shutting out the largest demographic that they are supposed to be appealing to. People who are happy with their weight are happier in life than the people who have to work extremely hard to stay thin.
Being confident as a plus sized beauty means living life to the fullest, taking control over your work, friends and family life and just being exactly who you are. Plus sized women and men are starting to make their mark in the modelling and the movie world, so why should the rest of us have to worry about our weight. The skinny people do enough worrying about their weight; they are more likely to be stressed and more importantly… hungry. So, let them do the worrying and all of the plus sized people (who outnumber the skinny ones) can get on with enjoying their lives.
Being plus size does not automatically mean that you are an unhealthy person. You can be plus size and go on to lead a perfectly normal and happy life. If you have health problems because of your weight, you may need to see the doctor to perhaps lose a little weight to make it easier on yourself. This doesn’t mean you will have to shrink down to a size 0, but it will make you healthier in the long run.
There are a lot more plus sized men and women around the world than there are stick thin ones, so take pride in the fact that you can live your life easier and happier than anyone else. Be confident in your skin and think of all the wonderful things you can achieve in your life.
